Stewart takes Chris for a shot on the Pike

Lucky winner Chris Grant.
I took this years winner of a free guided pike trip (donated at prizegiving night)to one of my haunts down in the Galloway forest. Conditions were flat calm which is not very good for pike but we were there anyway so decided to crack on. I baited up two float rods, one fished close in and the other a bit further out.
After 20 minutes the close in float took  dive which resulted in a fish of about 4lb played well by Chris.

Although not his first pike it was a PB so well done

It was the only fish of the day alas but we went home happy

Annual Tay outing

The clubs’ annual outing to the River Tay went ahead this year on the 20th February. Only four hardy souls braved the elements, Eddie Wong, John Wilson, Willie Kennedy and myself.

After a late start (Eddie being lost) we hit the water. Eddie and John starting off in the boat, Willie and myself on the far bank. The morning past with Eddie getting a hit on his lure but alas was not able to connect. After a spot of lunch to recharge the batteries whilst getting the feet warmed up it was soon our turn for the boat.
After about an hour my rod slammed over and I played and landed a well mended Salmon Kelt in the 8 -10lb range. It was the only fish of the day but everyone enjoyed the experience and are looking forward to the trip again next year.
Any members reading this, can you please forward on some fishing pictures with a few words  to the committee as we move forward through the year please?

Martin's first fish of 2015

Martin made an early start to  his Sea Trout kicking off as early as seasonal rules would allow.
The weather was bleak , the dog didn't fancy the sleet but there were one or two fish around falling to lures over a couple of trips.
